ORDER FOR THE PUBLIC WORSHIP of GOD
Ninth Sunday after Pentecost August 11, 2019
Responsive Call to Worship (Psalm 18:1-3)
We love You, O LORD, our strength.
The LORD is our rock and our fortress and our deliverer, our God,
Our rock, in whom we take refuge, our shield, and the horn of our salvation, our stronghold.
We call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and we are saved from our enemies.
*Hymn #12 “Praise Him, Praise Him”
*Prayer of Adoration
*Affirmation of Faith - Children’s Catechism
How does God sanctify you? God makes me more and more holy in heart and conduct.
Corporate Prayer of Confession with Individual Prayers of Confession
Loving God, who sent Your Son to seek and save the lost,
who invites the weary and the burdened to rest, and who heals the hurting,
we confess that we have lost our way.
Forgive us for our wayward and willful disobedience. Forgive our failure to trust You.
Forgive us for thinking little of Your majesty and for presuming upon Your grace.
Forgive us for every thought, word, or deed that has brought hurt to others,
harmed ourselves, or dishonored Your name.
Change us by the power of Your Spirit, that we may desire what is good,
love what You love, and do what You command, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Assurance of Divine Pardon (Romans 5:8, Colossians 1:13-14, Romans 5:1)
God shows His love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us .
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness
and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
*Hymn #316 “O Sacred Head, Now Wounded”
Offertory & Prayer of Thanksgiving
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow, Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Greetings

New Guests - We are so glad to have the privilege of worshiping the Lord with you. Please fill out one of our “Guest Cards” found on the table in the Narthex. This will help us in responding to any of your questions or needs. You can place them in the offertory plate or hand it to our pastor.
The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at Grace Covenant. All who trust in Jesus and Him alone for their salvation are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. After all are served, we then take the elements together. If you have a non-communing child, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.
Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.
Ingram Extra - Join us after service in the Fellowship Hall for refreshment. If you have interest or questions about the day’s sermon, join Pastor John at the couches for a short Q&A with others.
