ORDER FOR THE PUBLIC WORSHIP of  GOD

Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost                 August 25, 2019

Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 46:4-7)

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.

God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; He utters his voice, the earth melts.

The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

*Hymn #97                “Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above”

*Prayer of Adoration

*Affirmation of Faith - Children’s Catechism

How do you repent of your sin? I must be sorry for my sin, and hate and forsake it.

Why must you hate and forsake your sin? Because sin displeases God.

What does it mean to believe in Christ? To trust in Christ alone for my salvation.

Corporate Prayer of Confession with Individual Prayers of Confession

Loving Lord Jesus Christ, who came to seek and to save the lost,

who invites the weary and the burdened to rest, and who heals the hurting:

we confess that we have lost our way.

Forgive us for our wayward and willful disobedience.

Forgive our failure to be Your witnesses in the world.

Forgive us for thinking little of Your salvation

and for presuming upon Your grace.

Lead us back to You. Forgive us for every thought, word, or deed

that has brought hurt to others, harmed ourselves, or dishonored Your name.

Grace us with Your Holy Spirit and lead us once again in the way that leads to life.

Assurance of Divine Pardon  (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.

The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

New Guests - We are so glad to have the privilege of worshiping the Lord with you. Please fill out one of our “Guest Cards” found on the table in the Narthex. This will help us in responding to any of your questions or needs. You can place them in the offertory plate or hand it to our pastor.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at Grace Covenant. All who trust in Jesus and Him alone for their salvation are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. After all are served, we then take the elements together. If you have a non-communing child, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.

Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.

Ingram Extra - Join us after service in the Fellowship Hall for refreshment. If you have interest or questions about the day’s sermon, join Pastor John at the couches for a short Q&A with others.
