February 24, 2019 Public Worship Service

The Seventh Sunday after Epiphany                 February 24, 2019

Responsive Call to Worship    (adapted from Psalm 104:24,30-34)

Pastor: O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

People: When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.

Pastor: May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works,

People: Who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke!

Pastor: We will sing to the LORD as long as we live; we will sing praise to my God while we have being.

People: May our meditation be pleasing to him, for we rejoice in the LORD.

*Hymn #143                         “This is My Father’s World”

*Prayer of Adoration

*Profession  of Faith        (From the Children’s Catechism)

            Pastor: Who made you?

People: What else did God make?

            People: God made all things.

Pastor: Why did God make you and all things?

            People: For his own glory.

Pastor: How can you glorify God?

People: By loving him and doing what he commands.

*Hymn #12                            “Praise Him, Praise Him”

Corporate Prayer of Confession with Individual Prayers of Confession

O God of peace, You have loved us with a love beyond our understanding.

You have set us on paths of righteousness for Your names’ sake.

Yet we have strayed from Your way:

            You asked for our lives, that You might work through us;

we gave a small part, that we might not get too involved.

Lord, forgive our calculated efforts to serve You

only when it is convenient for us to do so,

only in those places where it is safe to do so,

and only with those who make it easy to do so.

Grant us now, we pray, the grace to die daily to sin and to rise daily to new life in Christ.

Renew us and send us out as usable instruments of grace that we may take seriously the    meaning of Your cross.

Responsive Assurance of Divine Pardon

Pastor: Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world.

People: Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." - John 8:12

First-Time Guests We are so glad you are here to Worship the Lord with us today. If you will, please fill out an Information Card found in the back, so we can get to know you a little. These can be placed in the offering plate or handed to a Greeter or Pastor John.

Ingram Extra - Please join us immediately after service for some refreshment in the Fellowship Hall. This is a wonderful informal time to get to know each other better. During this short-time, we usually hear something practical from Pastor John and are able to share our prayer requests together.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper each Sunday at Ingram. All who sincerely trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone, for the forgiveness of sin, are invited to partake, including baptized children with parental permission. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. When everyone is served, then we will take the elements together. For children not yet taking communion, please bring them forward with you so the pastor may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask Pastor John about the process.
