* Call to Worship adapted from Psalm 36 (Read responsively)

Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,

Your faithfulness to the clouds.

Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;

Your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast You save, O Lord.

How precious is Your steadfast love, O God!

The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.

They feast on the abundance of Your house,

And You give them drink from the river of Your delights.

ALL: For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light.

* Affirmation of Faith The Apostles Creed

  1. believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. AMEN. *universal

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration We Have Come to Join in Worship Red Book # 207

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

  • God, You are to be trusted, and yet we behave as though we have not really put our trust in You. You have guided us in the past and saved us from disaster, and yet we are often fainthearted as we look to the future. We often walk with trembling fearful steps, with little joy or confidence. We are very ashamed of our lack of faith, our failure to trust You and to utterly commit ourselves to You. Teach us, heavenly Father, to ignore our fears since nothing can take us out of Your care. Forgive us, and be our strength and stay, for now into Your hands we commit our lives, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

(time of silent, personal confession) AMEN

WHETHER you’re investigating the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ, looking for a church home, or have been with us for a long time – welcome! God is real, God is present, and we hope you sense and experience the grandeur of God today in this morning’s worship. Please sign the blue attendance pad and join us in the Fellowship Hall for coffee and light refreshments following the worship service.

BUILDING MAINTENANCE FUND – Since our building is no longer new, the Session felt it wise to begin preparing for other expensive repairs or replacements that may be needed in the near future, and has authorized the establishment of a building maintenance fund.

FLOWERS – If you would like to sponsor flowers for the chancel in loving memory or honor of a loved one or in honor of a special occasion, there is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board by the drinking fountain in the Narthex. Cost: $24/Sunday.

The Lamb of God is also the Lion of Judah.
