Trinity Season                   July 18, 2021

*Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 52:1,3,5-9)

Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man?

The steadfast love of God endures all the day.

You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right.

            But God will break you down forever;

            He will snatch and tear you from your tent;

He will uproot you from the land of the living.

The righteous shall see and fear, and shall laugh at Him, saying,

“See the man who would not make God his refuge,

but trusted in the abundance of his riches

and sought refuge in his own destruction!”

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God.

I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever.

I will thank You forever, because You have done it.

I will wait for Your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly.

*Hymn #139                             “Great is Thy Faithfulness”

*Profession of Faith - Westminster Short Catechism #86

What is faith in Jesus Christ?

Faith in Jesus Christ is a saving grace,

whereby we receive and rest upon Him alone for salvation,

as He is offered to us in the gospel.

Epistolary Lesson               Ephesians 4:28                                                                    (page 978)

Affirmation of Holy Scripture (Psalm 119:171)

My lips will pour forth praise, for You teach me Your Statutes.

*Hymn                            “Jesus, I Come”

1. Out of my bondage, sorrow and night, Jesus, I come; Jesus I come.

Into Thy freedom, gladness and light, Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of my sickness into Thy health,

Out of my wanting and into Thy wealth,

Out of my sin and into Thyself, Jesus, I come to Thee.

2. Out of my shameful failure and loss, Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come.

Into the glorious gain of Thy cross, Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of earths sorrows into Thy balm,

Out of life's storms and into Thy calm,

Out of distress into jubilant psalm, Jesus, I come to Thee.

3. Out of unrest and arrogant pride, Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come.

Into Thy blessed will to abide, Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of myself to dwell in Thy love,

Out of despair into raptures above,

Upward forever on wings like a dove, Jesus, I come to Thee.

4. Out of the fear and dread of the tomb, Jesus, I come; Jesus, I come.

Into the joy and light of Thy home, Jesus, I come to Thee.

Out of the depths of ruin untold,

Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold,

Ever Thy glorious face to behold, Jesus, I come to Thee.

Sermon                                             “Jesus Will Change Your Work”                          John W. Uhl, Pastor

*Hymn #480                    “Only Trust Him”

Corporate & Individual Confession of Sins

   God our heavenly Father,

we stand in fresh need of Your mercy and grace.

For we have not loved You with our whole hearts.

We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.

Forgive us for the ways that we have diminished others

by harboring malice, ill-will, and bitterness towards them.

Pardon us for our evil thoughts, covetous ways, murderous looks, and hurtful words.

Cleanse and transform us that we become people

who do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with You.

For we pray in the name of the One who is the Lord of life, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Assurance of the Lord’s Pardon (Ephesians 1:7)

In Him we have redemption through His blood,

   the forgiveness of our trespasses,

according to the riches of His grace.

New Guests - We are so glad to have the privilege of worshiping the Lord with you. Please fill out one of our “Guest Cards” found on the table in the Narthex. This will help us in responding to any of your questions or needs. You can place them in the offertory plate or hand it to our pastor.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at Grace Covenant. All who trust in Jesus and Him alone for their salvation are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. After all are served, we then take the elements together. If you have a non-communing child, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.

Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.
