Trinity Season                   July 25, 2021

*Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 53)

    The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

            They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity;

            there is none who does good.

    God looks down from heaven on the children of man

    to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.

            They have all fallen away; together they have become corrupt;

            there is none who does good, not even one.

    Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!

            When God restores the fortunes of His people,

            let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.

*Hymn #562                             “Be Thou My Vision”

*Profession of Faith - Westminster Short Catechism #87

    What is repentance unto life?

            Repentance unto life is a saving grace,

            whereby a sinner, out of a true sense of his sin,

            and apprehension of the mercy of God in Christ,

            doth, with grief and hatred of his sin, turn from it unto God,

            with full purpose of, and endeavor after, new obedience.

Epistolary Lesson               Ephesians 4:29                                                                    (page 978)

Affirmation of Holy Scripture (Psalm 119:172)

                My tongue will sing of Your Word, for all Your Commandments are right.

*Hymn #316                             “O Sacred Head, Now Wounded”

Announcements, Offertory & Greetings

Sermon                                             “Jesus Will Change Your Mouth”                        John W. Uhl, Pastor

*Hymn                                     “My Lord, I Did Not Choose You”                                  Condor, Smith

   Chorus: My Lord I did not choose You For that could never be

   My heart would still refuse You Had You not chosen me

   You took the sin that stained me Cleansed me, made me new

   Of old, You have ordained me That I should live in You

   Unless Your grace had called me And taught my opening mind

   The world would have enthralled me To heavenly glories blind

   My heart knows none above You For Your rich grace I thirst

   I know that if I love You You must have loved me first

Corporate & Individual Confession of Sins

   Lord of grace and glory, we crown You with praise

   for setting us free from sin and the tyranny of the devil.

   Yet we confess that we often usurp Your lordship

   and live in bondage rather than freedom.

   We dally with sin because we lose sight of Your beauty and holiness.

   We live to make our names great rather than Yours.

   We allow our own selfish desires to drive our decisions rather than Your will.

   We beseech Your pardoning and strengthening grace so that we might rest more deeply

   and trust more fully in Your promises.

   For we pray in the strong name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Assurance of the Lord’s Pardon (Psalm 103:10-12)

   He does not deal with us according to our sins,

            nor repay us according to our iniquities.

   For as high as the heavens are above the earth,

   so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him;

            as far as the east is from the west,

            so far does He remove our transgressions from us.

The Bread & The Cup

*Benediction with Congregational Response                “Three-fold Amen”

*You are invited to Stand when prompted.

New Guests - We are so glad to have the privilege of worshiping the Lord with you. Please fill out one of our “Guest Cards” found on the table in the Narthex. This will help us in responding to any of your questions or needs. You can place them in the offertory plate or hand it to our pastor.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at Grace Covenant. All who trust in Jesus and Him alone for their salvation are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. After all are served, we then take the elements together. If you have a non-communing child, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.

Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.
