Fifth Sunday of Easter                 May 19, 2019

Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 77:7-9, 11-15)

"Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable?

Has his steadfast love forever ceased?

Are his promises at an end for all time?

Has God forgotten to be gracious?

Has he in anger shut up his compassion?"

Then I said, I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.

I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.

Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God?

You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.

You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph.

*Hymn #352             “O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus”       Ebenezer

*Prayer of Adoration

*Affirmation of Faith

What was the sin of our first parents? Eating the forbidden fruit.

Who tempted Adam and Eve to this sin? Satan tempted Eve first, and then he used her to tempt Adam.

How did Adam and Eve change when they sinned? Instead of being holy and happy, they became sinful and miserable.

Did Adam act for himself alone in the covenant of life? No. He represented the whole human race.

Children’s Message               (ages 3 and Up)

*Hymn #344             “Grace Greater than Our Sin”                        Moody

Corporate Prayer of Confession with Individual Prayers of Confession

Gracious Father, we acknowledge we are prone to evil and lazy in doing good.

It is Your will that we submit to Jesus, our Redeemer, as the Lord of our lives.

Yet we seek to be our own authority.

It is Your will that Your people should be one in Christ

and reflect the eternal unity that exists in the Trinity.

Yet we have selfishly chosen the way of division and dissension.

It is Your will that we are to do justice and serve as a light to the nations.

Yet we have been slow to love our neighbor.

Give us Your enabling grace to repent of our pride and disobedience

and to submit to Your revealed will.

Free us from the idolatry in our hearts that hinders us from loving You and our neighbor.

Save us from considering as normal that which is an offense to Your love.

Pour out Your Spirit on us that we may worship in spirit and truth

and live for the glory of Your name.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray....

Assurance of Divine Pardon  (1 John 1:8,9)

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Offertory & Prayer of Thanksgiving

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow, Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

New Guests We are so glad you are here worshiping the Lord with us. If you will, please fill out an Information Card found in the back, so we can get to know you a little. These can be placed in the offering plate or handed to a Greeter or Pastor John.

Cry Room/Nursery –Please be assured that we do want your children in Worship with Us.  But,  we have now equipped a very pleasant, clean & comfortable “cry room” for families with small children to use as needed.   It is located at the right of the sanctuary and is equipped with everything needed (including Audio) for events happening in the sanctuary. Entry to the room is gained from inside the sanctuary itself or can be accessed through the library.

Ingram Extra - Please join us immediately after service for some refreshment in the Fellowship Hall. This is an informal time to get to know each other better. During this short-time, we usually hear something practical from Pastor John and are able to share our prayer requests together.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper each Sunday at Ingram. All who sincerely trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone, for the forgiveness of sin, are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. When everyone is served, then we will take the elements together. For children not yet taking communion, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask Pastor John about the process.

Church Web-site - Please access our website for information about the ministries of Grace Covenant Presbyterian and for access to past sermons.
