Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 99:1-5)

The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble!

The LORD is great in Zion; He is exalted over all the peoples.

Let them praise Your great and awesome Name! Holy is He!

Exalt the LORD our God; worship at His footstool! Holy is He!

*Hymn #724                         “Lead On, O King Eternal”

*Prayer of Adoration

*Affirmation of Faith - Children’s  Catechism

   How is Christ your king?

Christ rules over me, the world and Satan, and he defends me.

Why do you need Christ as your king?

Because I am weak and helpless.

Gospel Lesson                            Matthew 5:10-12

"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

"Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you

falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they

persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Affirmation of Holy Scripture

At midnight we rise to praise You, because of Your righteous Rules.  - Psalm 119:62

Cling to the crucified, Jesus the King

Cling to the crucified, Jesus the Lamb who died

Cling to the crucified, Jesus the King

2. Cling to the Living One, Cling in thy woe

Cling to the Pardoning One, He speaketh peace

Cling to the Healing One, Anguish will cease

Sermon         “The Kingdom of Heaven: Christians are Persecuted”                               John W. Uhl, Pastor

The Bread & The Cup

Confessing Our Need of Christ Together and Individually

Eternal and Almighty Father, You are holy, holy, holy,

and the whole earth is full of Your glory.

Bowing before You, we humbly confess that we are full of sin

and unworthy to stand in Your presence.

We have lost our way by following the ways of the world

and by abandoning Your way of mercy, justice, and truth.

We are a people of unclean lips,

lips that do not praise You nor honor You as we should.

We lie and we assault others with our speech instead of building them up.

We have taken Your name in vain. Our hearts are dull to Your Word.

We are slow to obey and indifferent to Your commands.

Our ears are often closed off to the truth, and we refuse to listen to Your indwelling Spirit.

Forgive all our sins, we pray, on account of Christ our Savior.

Assurance of the Lord’s Pardon  (Romans 5:12,15)

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin,

and so death spread to all men because all sinned...

...much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift

of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

*Hymn                                   “Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah”                             Williams, Casella

1. Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah, Pilgrim through this barren land.

I am weak, but Thou art mighty; Hold me with Thy powerful hand.

    Bread of heaven, Feed me now and evermore;

Bread of heaven, Feed me now and evermore.

2. Open now the crystal fountain, Whence the healing waters flow;

Let the fire and cloudy pillar Lead me all my journey through.

Strong Deliverer, Be Thou still my Strength and Shield.

Strong Deliverer, Be Thou still my Strength and Shield.

3. When I tread the verge of Jordan, Bid my anxious fears subside;

Death of death, and hell's destruction, Land me safe on Canaan's side.

Songs of praises, I will ever give to Thee; Songs of praises, I will ever give to Thee.

Land me safe on Canaan's side

Bid my anxious fears, bid my anxious fears

Land me safe on Canaan's side

Bid my anxious fears, bid my anxious fears, goodbye

If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.

Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.
