ORDER FOR THE PUBLIC WORSHIP of  GOD

Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost                 September 01, 2019

Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 56)

This I know, that God is for me.  In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise,

In God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?

I must perform my vows to you, O God; I will render thank offerings to you.

For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling,

that I may walk before God in the light of life.

*Hymn #38                “Ye Servants of God”

*Prayer of Adoration

*Affirmation of Faith - Children’s Catechism

Can you repent and believe in Christ by your own power?

No. I cannot repent and believe unless the Holy Spirit changes my heart.

How can you get the help of the Holy Spirit? God has told us to pray for the Holy Spirit's help.

Corporate Prayer of Confession with Individual Prayers of Confession

Holy and merciful God, in Your presence we confess our sinfulness,

our shortcomings, and our offenses against You.

You have loved us with a love beyond our comprehension,

yet we continue to doubt Your faithfulness.

You have given us Your Word so that we may know and delight in Your will,

yet we have given more consideration to our fleshly desires.

Within Your Church, You have called us to love one another,

yet we have been slow to practice love of our neighbors.

In the world, You have called us to continue the mission of Jesus

and to expand His kingdom on Earth as it is in heaven,

yet we confess we are more apathetic than active, isolated than involved,

callous than compassionate, and legalistic than loving.

Forgive us, gracious God, and bring us back into the fullness of our covenant with You

that we may live holy, just, and humble lives to the glory of Your name.

It is in Jesus’ name and by the power of the Spirit we pray.

Assurance of Divine Pardon  (Romans 6:23)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

*Hymn #390                           “Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart”

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow, Praise Him, all creatures here below.

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Lesson from Revelation                       Revelation 22:6-21

We remember Your name in the night, O LORD, and keep Your Law.

This blessing has fallen to us, that we have kept Your precepts.  - Psalm 119:55-56

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at Grace Covenant. All who trust in Jesus and Him alone for their salvation are invited to partake. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.

Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.
