Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 121:2,3b,4,8)

Our help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

He who keeps us will not slumber.

Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD will keep our going out and our coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

*Hymn #642                         “Abide with Me”

*Prayer of Adoration

*Affirmation of Faith - Children’s  Catechism

How is Christ your prophet? Christ teaches me the will of God.

Why do you need Christ as your prophet? Because I am ignorant by nature.

Confessing Our Need of Christ Together and Individually

Faithful God, we confess that we have been unfaithful to

our covenant with You and with one another.

We have worshiped other gods: money, power, greed, and convenience.

We have served our own self-interest

instead of serving only You and Your people.

We have not loved You nor have we loved our neighbor as You have commanded.

   Forgive us, O Gracious God.

Restore us to the joy of Your salvation and sustain us with Your bountiful Spirit

   through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Assurance of the Lord’s Pardon  (Lamentations 3:22,23)

   The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

*Hymn #710                           “Jesus, Lover of My Soul”

Offertory & Prayer of Thanksgiving

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow, Praise Him, all creatures here below.

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Gospel Lesson                            Matthew 5:8

   When we think on our ways, we turn our feet to Your Testimonies;

We hasten and do not delay to keep Your Commandments.  - Psalm 119:59-60

Sermon         “The Kingdom of Heaven: Christian’s have Changed Hearts”                 John W. Uhl, Pastor

The Bread & The Cup

*Hymn #480                                     “Only Trust Him”

*Congregational Response                    Three-fold Amen

*You are invited to Stand when prompted by Pastor John.

New Guests - We are so glad to have the privilege of worshiping the Lord with you. Please fill out one of our “Guest Cards” found on the table in the Narthex. This will help us in responding to any of your questions or needs. You can place them in the offertory plate or hand it to our pastor.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at Grace Covenant. All who trust in Jesus and Him alone for their salvation are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. After all are served, we then take the elements together. If you have a non-communing child, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.

Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.

Ingram Extra - Join us after service in the Fellowship Hall for refreshment. If you have interest or questions about the day’s sermon, join Pastor John at the couches for a short Q&A with others.

Church Staff - Mrs. Shirley Madary, Office Manager *; Rev. Dr. John W. Uhl, Pastor *

REMEMBER, we as a Church Family will have regular fellowship lunches following the worship service, each 3rd Sunday of the month.  These will be informal potlucks and will give us a chance to get to visit with one another.  (the NEXT luncheon will be October 20th)

The Women of the church will meet on Tuesday, October 1st, at 6 pm,  to make Fall wreaths.  Please feel free to bring a guest, if you wish.  A donation may be made to help defray the cost of the supplies.
